14 day Veneto Itinerary
Days 1- 4 Exploring Venice and the Lagoon
Your journey begins in Venice, where history, art and everyday life unfold in a city unlike any other. Over three unhurried days, you will explore the city with a local guide, crossing the Grand Canal, wandering through quiet campi and discovering both the iconic sights and lesser-known corners that reveal its true character.
One day is dedicated to the Venetian Lagoon. Travelling by private boat, you will visit Burano, known for its brightly coloured houses and long lace-making tradition, and Torcello, a peaceful island with a remarkable early church and a strong sense of history. It’s a relaxed and insightful way to understand the lagoon that shaped Venice over centuries.
Days 5–7: The Prosecco Hills – Vines, Villages and Views
Leaving Venice behind, we travel north into the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills, a landscape of steep vineyards, small villages and winding country roads. Here, the terrain shapes both the wines and the rhythm of daily life.
You will visit a small, working cheese producer in the hills above Valdobbiadene and sample products made using traditional methods. We also explore towns such as Asolo, known for its charm and artistic heritage, and Marostica, famous for its castle walls and historic piazza.
Along the way, there is time to enjoy the wines that have made this region internationally known, and to meet the people behind them.
Days 8 – 11: Vicenza, Padova and Country Villas
Settle into Vicenza, a city defined by its elegant streets and renowned Palladian architecture. With a local guide, discover highlights such as the Teatro Olimpico, and enjoy time to explore the city’s boutiques, cafés and relaxed atmosphere at your own pace.
From Vicenza, we take a day trip to Padova, known for its lively piazzas and rich history. Here, you’ll visit the Scrovegni Chapel, home to Giotto’s remarkable early Renaissance frescoes.
You’ll also visit Villa La Rotonda, one of Palladio’s most iconic works, and spend time at the Valsanzibio Gardens, a beautifully preserved baroque garden set among the Euganean Hills.
Days 12 – 14 Verona – lakeside towns, rolling hills and Aida
Our final base is Verona, a city rich in Roman, medieval and Renaissance heritage. You’ll have time to settle in and explore its elegant piazzas, ancient landmarks and hidden laneways, with a local guide helping bring its layered history to life.
From Verona, we take a day trip to Lazise, a charming lakeside town on the shores of Lake Garda, followed by a scenic drive through the Valpolicella hills, known for their gentle landscapes and renowned wines.
We also spend time at Parco Sigurtà, a vast and peaceful garden estate just outside Verona, with formal plantings, walking paths and open green spaces.
To conclude the journey, we attend an opera performance in the Arena di Verona—an unforgettable open-air experience and a fitting finale to your time in the Veneto.
Accommodation
We stay in a small selection of carefully chosen, well-located hotels throughout the Veneto small group tour, selected for their comfort, character and proximity to the historic centres we explore. All accommodation is boutique in style, allowing us to stay centrally and minimise daily travel. As is typical with smaller, characterful hotels, room layouts and features may vary.
Venice
In Venice, we stay at the Hotel American-Dinesen, a refined four-star hotel located in the Dorsoduro district. Set along a quiet canal, the hotel offers a peaceful atmosphere while remaining within easy walking distance of major sights, vaporetto stops and local neighbourhoods. It is an excellent base for exploring both the well-known highlights and the quieter side of the city.
Prosecco Hills
Our stay in the Prosecco region is at Duca di Dolle, a beautifully restored historic estate set among vineyards and rolling hills. The property combines historic character with modern comfort and offers a tranquil rural setting, ideal for experiencing the landscape and wines of this UNESCO-listed area.
Vicenza
In Vicenza, we stay at Palazzo Scamozzi, a stylish boutique hotel housed in a historic palazzo near the city’s centre. Its location makes it easy to explore Vicenza on foot, with Palladian landmarks, cafés and shops close by. The hotel’s elegant interiors reflect the architectural heritage of the city.
Verona
Our final stay is in Verona at the Hotel Colomba d’Oro, a classic hotel situated in the heart of the historic centre. From here, it is a short walk to Verona’s main piazzas, the Arena and many excellent restaurants. The central location allows for easy exploration and a relaxed end to the tour.
